UNIT 2


We're just completing our first unit while students were getting immersed in French and adjusting during the first month of school in the Fall season. Now we will step into our second unit to discover "HOW WE EXPRESS OURSELVES" (for the JK) and "WHERE WE ARE IN TIME AND PLACE" for the rest of students.

JK

Central Idea: "Imagination helps us to create and share our stories".
Inquiries:
-How costumes can help me to create different stories?
-How expressions and non verbal actions can contribute to make a story?
-Who or what do I want to be? What is my favorite role and part in the story?

Central Idea: "Families around the world celebrate a variety of holidays and traditions".
Inquiries:
-What holidays and other festivities do we celebrate in the Fall season?
-How can traditional clothes and food differ from one Holiday to another?
-What symbols are associated to the French culture?

Grade 1/2

Central Idea: "Living things are affected by climate and weather".
Inquiries:
-What are the seasons in French?
-What do we wear according to each season?

Grade 3

Central Idea:" Explorers help shape our world".

Inquiries:

-Who were the first nations in Canada?(Qui?)
-Where did they live? (Où?)
-How did they survive according to the weather? (Comment?)
-What elements did the first nations create and utilize for their survival? (Quoi?)

Grade 4/5

Central Idea: "Major historical occurrences are relatable to aspects of contemporary communities".

Inquiries:

-What was it like to live in the Medieval Times compare to today?( e.g. What they wear, they eat, their recreational avctivities)

-How a Medieval Time's "Château" does compares to a mansion or nowadays house?

- How can we compare women's values and heroism to today's women? (e.g. Jeanne D'Arc).

Grade 6/7/8

Central Idea:"The success and evolution of civilizations can be attributed to the advent of Guns, Germs and Steel or Weaponry, Viruses/Diseases, and Industry.

Inquirires:

-What are the best inventions created? (“Eurêka!”)
-Which French personalities are we thankful for evolution?
-How globalization and the evolution of new technologies are affecting the new generations? (Egocentric societies).
-What are you planning to become when you grow older? Will you be able to create a perfect society? (L’avenir est à nous!)
